White Rice (Diri Blanc) is a staple food in the Haitian cooking. When you are looking for a rice dish that won’t overshadow your other dishes, a simple plain white rice is acceptable and it’s really simple to make with a Haitian twist.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Jasmine Rice
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 tbsp of diced scallion
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Butter

Method

Step 1

In a large pot sauté scallions in olive oil.

Step 2

Add water a bring to a boil.

Step 3

Add the rice to the boiling water.

Step 4

When the liquid is nearly dry, add the butter and reduce the heat to medium and cover the pot for 15-20 min then serve.
